Muttathi on Cauvery

We drove towards Bheemeshwari fishing camp on a scooter on 23 November 2006. A distance of about 100 km from Bangalore (J P nagar), made difficult by the unsuitable mode of transport.

We stopped enroute at a rocky view point in the forested valley. Divinely peaceful place, no crowds, except on the river banks at Muttathi village.

Not wishing to provide dessert to the crocodiles, we did not step into the inviting waters. We kept a sharp lookout at the hopeful monkeys, but could not prevent them from tearing the scooter seat cover, perhaps in vengeance at being denied their share of our lunch!

Hi, interesting blog. I am planning to go to Muthatahi soon. I had a few queries about the place and I hope you would answer my queries at the erliest:

1. How to reach Muthathi from kanakapura? Is there any sign board near satanur to take a turn towards Muthathi?

2. Just two of ue are going. So is the place safe? Is there any place to park our bike? Can we take our bike into the forest?

3. How far is the village from the river?

4. And as you said, is the place swarmed by monkeys adn crocodiles?

I hope you would reply soon. I would be grateful to you.

Thanks

Hi
Drive on the Kanakapura road through Kanakapura and Sathanur. Turn left at Satanur and drive for another 30 minutes to reach Muthathi. You drive through the hills and wilderness of Cauvery wildlife sanctuary.

Muthathi is about 6 km before Bheemeshwari fishing camp. The Cauvery wildlife sanctuary is perfectly safe for 2 people to go on bike or car.

Muthathi is located at a distance of 80+ km from Bangalore.

We did not see any crocodiles in the river, but the place has a bad reputation of people getting drowned in swirls.
